No Equipment Needed Total Body YogaBurn [30 Minute Workout + Warmup/Cool Down]
We’re closing in on the month of May FAST & that means the midwestern weather is what we call… HEATIN’ UP - (any other college beer pong pros out there?) Anyywayyysssss… warmer weather not only means happier people (because we can actually be outside, soaking up the Vitamin D and fresh air) but it also means that I tend to move a large majority of my workouts outdoors too! Tbh, since the weather has been decent the past month or so, I’ve already been exercising outside quite a bit -- which has felt amazing!
Generally I split my workouts between my garage (where my pullup bar/squat rack is housed) and my deck, just depending what type of workout I’m doing that day and/or what the weather situation is but either way it’s one of the brightest spots in my day -- especially lately.
Speaking of bright spots (or sides… however you want to say it) --- at the beginning of this quarantine I set out a goal of finally checking the completion of a strict pull up off my bucket list, best case scenario it happened before my 30th birthday in June. Regardless, I set out with the intention of doing 20 pull-ups/day every single day of the week. These pull-ups varied between the lightest band, the second lightest band and negative pull-ups -- all to build different types of strength, endurance and most importantly to create muscle memory for the correct movement pattern.
It was the end of March when I began this “quest” and I’m proud to report back that as of last night, I completed my very first ever STRICT PULL-UP and it was such an awesome feeling! Did I do 20 pull-ups every single day? No. Did I do 10 pull-ups every single day? No. HOWEVER, I did do more strict pull-ups (banded and negatives) more in the past month than I maybe have ever. This helped me build the strength, the confidence and most importantly the muscle memory I needed to bring this goal to completion.
I still have a lot of work to do on these pull-ups, but if I can crush a strict pull-up after 29 years of not being able to do so, I’m here to tell you that you can do whatever it is that you have as a goal set before you. You’ve got this!
