20 minute HIIT Cardio + Abs Workout

These 6 equipment-free exercises can be done anywhere, anytime and will torch calories and build strength in just 20 minutes!

Happy Freakin’ Tuesday Loves! I’m super excited about this post today, but before we get into the good stuff, I have to be 100% transparent with you. You see, I’ve been wanting to share workouts on my blog for the longest time {basically since it started} and admittedly, I’ve even had workouts programmed, photographed and edited for over an entire year yet somehow, this post on January 24th 2017 is my first official fitness post.

I know what you’re thinking {what the hell took you an entire year to start sharing these things?} and I know it seems ridiculous, but basically it was my fear of the unknown. My fear of something I like to refer to as the {big, hairy PINTEREST graphic}. I honestly had zero fear about programming the workouts, coordinating shoots to capture the exercises or sharing the workouts once completed, but what stopped me dead in my tracks every time I would even think about creating a workout post was that damn Pinterest graphic. But really, I’ve been creating Pinterest graphics for my recipes for months because it’s easy, peasy… 2 photos, a bit of text and a logo and I’m done!

But when you start adding in 8-14 photos, titles, exercise names, equal alignment… and I guess basically what I’m trying to say is that I’m not SUPER tech-savy {but I am working on it} and learning new software/programs is not, I repeat NOT myj jam. In fact, it honestly scared me {there’s that fear of the unknown} especially because I knew how much of a time commitment it would take to learn it all. Nevertheless, a few weekends ago I decided enough was enough and that I wanted to share the workouts that I worked so hard to program and shoot, so one Sunday afternoon, I sat down and conquered the damn thing! By the end of the day, I’d not only figured out the program, but I realized that it really wasn’t that hard at all, I just needed a little push in the right direction to get me started.

This was something I had literally been dragging my feet about for months and months and after I finally conjured up the courage to just do it, it felt amazing!

My fear of the {software} unknown is very similar to many people’s fear of fitness, exercise, working out, whatever you want to call it. Although most people know that they should exercise, many don’t know how to exercise and for this reason, many people are hesitant to start an exercise program. Because they don’t feel comfortable going into a gym, studio or crossfit box and being the newbie, being unsure of themselves, having to ask questions, etc. The fear of failing in front of other {more seasoned} gym-goers, yogis or bootcamp-ers deters them from ever starting a routine at all.

And you know what I say to that? Drop those fears at the door, because no matter your fitness level, size, weight, height, age or gender, I’ve got the perfect workout for you that can be done anywhere, anytime, even in the comfort of your own home AND it only takes 20 minutes!

Exercise can and should be EMPOWERING, it should make you feel good and strong and beautiful to get a workout in each day {or a few times a week! It should be something that you look forward to doing, something that gets you really excited, and if it doesn't... I'm here to tell you that it's time to find a new way to get your heart pumping... because it should be FUN! Just like this workout I have for you today!


Complete each exercise for 45 seconds, the rest for 15 seconds and move on to the next exercise. Complete a 1 minute plank {or rest} after completing all 6 exercises, then repeat 2 more times for a quick and efficient, calorie torching workout that can be done anywhere, even from the comfort of your own home.

Note: be sure to listen to your body and modify interval lengths/rest time when needed + eliminate any jumping to make the exercises low impact.
