Apple Cinnamon Scramble + How To Determine If The 21DSD Is Right For You

This is absolutely perfect as a breakfast or lunch meal or really as a snack at any time of the day. This recipe is 21DSD approved and made with just 5 ingredients and only dirtying 1 pan in your kitchen, it just doesn’t get much easier.

If you haven’t already heard, on Monday I started another round of The 21-Day Sugar Detox. If you’ve been around long enough, you know that this isn’t my first rodeo. In fact, this is probably about the 10th time over the course of the past 3 ½ years that I’ve taken on this 3 week challenge. Why? Because frankly I feel 1000x better when eating real food, but more on that later.

So what is the 21-Day Sugar Detox? In the words of the creator of the program {and one of my biggest idols} Diane Sanfilippo, The 21-Day Sugar Detox is a real food reset, to help you drop processed foods, reset your taste buds, enjoy the food you eat and improve your health.

What does the 21DSD look like? It means we’re cutting out processed foods, added sugars, gluten, grains, alcohol and {for some} dairy. Additionally, this time through I’m also ditching caffeine as a whole because if you know me, you know that I live for coffee and while that isn’t necessarily bad {as long as you’re not loading it with crap filled creamer and tablespoons of sugar} it’s also not necessary. I’m young, healthy and energetic and I definitely don’t need coffee to help me function on the daily.

Why do I choose to participate regularly in the 21DSD? In all honesty, I eat a real food/paleo diet 85% of the time but I personally choose to still do the 21DSD multiple times throughout the year for 2 reasons. 1) First and foremost, I do it because it makes me feel like a million bucks. It’s so refreshing to cut all of the shit out of my diet and really take the time to realize how good your body is designed to feel every single day.  2) I do it because it makes me feel the absolute most confident in own skin than I ever have before. I felt it the first time I did the program and I’ll feel it again once I complete my tenth time too.

I don’t push anything on anyone, but if I can be completely honest with you, doing this detox for the 1st time was one of the most eye opening things I’ve done for myself and my health in my entire life. APPLE CINNAMON SCRAMBLE

{Printable Recipe}

Ingredients:

  • 4 Eggs

  • 2 Green Apples, peeled + thinly sliced

  • 2 Tbsp. Almond Butter

  • 1 Tbsp. Coconut Oil

  • 1 Tbsp. Cinnamon + 1 Tsp. Cinnamon

  • 1 Tsp. Apple Pie Spice + 1 Tsp. Apple Pie Spice

  • 1 Tsp. Pure Vanilla Extract + 1 Tsp. Pure Vanilla Extract

  • ½ Tsp. Sea Salt

Methods:

  1. Add coconut oil to a medium skillet and heat until melted

  2. Next, add the apples and the first half of the following ingredients: cinnamon, apple pie spice and vanilla extract

  3. Cook on low-medium for 12-15minutes {or until the apples have softened}

  4. Remove the apples from the pan and allow them to cool

  5. Scramble the eggs in a separate bowl with the remaining spices, then cook until fluffy

  6. Combine the apples and eggs in a bowl and drizzle with almond butter

  7. ENJOY!
