The Fit Foodie's Holiday Gift Guide

The Fit Foodie’s Holiday Gift Guide

A guide to creating the perfect gift for the fit and food obsessed people within your circle!

My christmas tree is up, the lights are on as much as humanly possible, the stockings are hung and just in time, the snow {and temperature} has fallen here in MN… I think we’re officially ready for the holidays!

Every year I say that I’m going to plan ahead so I’m not running around like a crazy person 2 days before Christmas tying up loose ends and grabbing the remaining gifts on my list, but let’s be honest… that has YET to happen and in even more honesty, it probably never will. Some call it procrastination, some call it the rush of adventure {or… maybe the rush of trying to find parking on December 22nd at the mall} and some call it running out of time, either way I’m back in the same boat this year with only a few gifts bought and zero wrapped as we near mid-December.

If you’re like me, and you still have loved ones to shop for this year AND they love spending time in their kitchen and/or want to improve their cooking skills, I have the perfect list of kitchen essentials for you choose from! The Fit Foodie’s Holiday Gift Guide is filled with goodies that I personally LOVE and would highly recommend to anyone! You never know, maybe you’ll walk away from this post with a little holiday present for yourself as well;)

THE FIT FOODIE’S HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE

1. Lodge Cast Iron Skillet: From frittatas to breakfast hash to fajitas, this cookware is one of my very favorite pieces. The versatility and durability is unbeatable and it doubles as a great camping essential as well!

2. Spiralizer: Instead of using pasta or other highly processed grains, turn your vegetables into noodles instead! Zucchini noodles, sweet potato noodles, beet noodles, carrot noodles… pretty much anything you think of can be made into noodles, each with their own unique flavor to bring to the table.

3. Chemex: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m a coffee snob. A chemex is a pour over style brew system that decreases coffee's acidity, increases the smoothness and hands down makes the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had. I started using this system a few years ago and rarely drink anything else. Special filters are required, so I linked them here as well.

4. Pyrex: Glassware vs plastic for leftovers is a transition that came through our home well over a year ago. Putting leftovers into glass contains allows you the ability to reheat your food {say for lunch at work or for a quick dinner} without having to worry about the chemicals from the plastic seeping into your food.

5. Food Processor: Hands down one of the best investments I’ve ever made. It literally makes everything and anything you can think of in no time flat. I like to make nut milks, nut butters, homemade salsas, cashew cheese, etc. and the clean-up isn’t too terribly bad on this one either.

6. Immersion Blender: If you’re trying to eliminate processed foods from your diet, this is a must-have tool! Make your own vegetable soups, mayonnaise and so much more with this small addition to your kitchen and get rid of junky ingredients for good!

7. Dutch Oven: The ideal slow-simmering and/or braising tool for all of your favorite meats, soups and winter stews. Additionally, this is another great option for camping trips!

8. Nutribullet: Smoothies. Need I say more? This nutribullet is the perfect size to make 2 servings of your favorite smoothie and blends everything perfectly. Not only is this blender small for easy storage and freaky fast like Jimmy John’s, but it also cleans up like a dream---SO easy!

9. Instant Pot: If you would rather not spend the majority of your evening slaving away in the kitchen, this is for you! Speed up the cooking process for basically anything; meats, soups, rice, eggs, etc. This is sure to save you hours and hours of time in only the first few weeks!

10. Sous Vide: I admittedly do not own one of these, BUT I have heard rare reviews from every single person who does. This tool cooks vacuum sealed meat at a consistent temperature to absolute perfection! The cook time is definitely extended from that of {standard} meat preparation, but if you have a few extra minutes and enjoy a well {no pun intended} cooked piece of meat--- this is for you!
